That is really weird, I can't get it to come up with the For Follow Up search folder either.

If your follow up items in different .pst files are not showing up on your to-do bar you can right click each top-level mail folder, left click properties and check the box "Display reminders and tasks from this folder in the To-Do Bar" then click OK.

Not the answer to your question, but I hope it helps! :)

Chris,
I am using Outlook 2007 and have been scouring the net all morning looking for a "how to" on showing my "flagged for follow up" emails on my outlook today page similar to the way they show up on the to-do bar. I have several projects which I manage, and due to storage size on our server I created a .pst folder for each project. I then move all my emails into these folders and flag them. I have search folders for each .pst. Your info above is the closest I've come, but its not quite what I'm after. Can you offer any advice?

Thanks,
Trent

The first ten hours working with Win Vista made me swear more than I ever have in my whole life ........ I've used every version of ms software since Dos 2.0 and this version is worse than DOSSHELL 5.0 And no I'm not going to be buying it after win XP goes homeless. I will most likely go to some form of linux If I can get a user friendly version....

My preference is for right-click Follow Up. It sounds like perhaps your Inbox is not being tracked for the To-Do Bar. Here's one thing to check:

Find the Top Level Folder that your Inbox is in. For example "Personal Folders"

Right Click that Folder and Left Click Properties
Make sure there is a check next to "Display reminders and tasks from this folder in the To-Do-Bar"

Click OK

I found this to work in my environment. Good luck! :)

Hey Chris,

I am new to Outlook 2007 and I still haven't worked out if I prefer adding a follow-up to an email in my inbox by right clicking or dragging the email to the task folder. Here is my dilema....

If I right click an email and select for completion this week it appears in my task bar in the main outlook UI and shows x mail in Inbox.. however it doesn't show in the tasklist in the today screen to-do menu. Only the actual tasks seem to.

If I choose to drag an email into the task bar and equally set the due date for this week, it appears as a task in the task bar and in the today screen HOWEVER it doen't show any flag or info in the inbox that I have actioned it with a task. (I am forever going back to the task bar to make sure its one of the ones I have added). Now I know some might say once actioned I should probably give it a category like in task bar, or action required... but it would be so much easier if Outlook showed that it has had a task made from it automatically.

So I guess my questions is... how do I get flagged for follow-up mails to show in my today screen...?

or

Am I doing something wrong in my work flow above?

Many thanks for any advice :)

After a little playing around I discovered this:

If you make any changes to the displayed list of folders through the Customize Outlook Today view within Outlook it will stop the manually added Unread Mail from updating.

I went in and configured my list of folders to be displayed and then went in and manually added the Unread Mail folder. The only side effect of this is that my Unread Mail counter is at the bottom of the list rather than the top. But otherwise it has been working fine.

Hope this helps! :)

This is a great tip for OL 2003. Just "upgraded" to OL 2007 and made same registry change. Unread Mail is now on Outlook Today, but is doesn't update live like it did in OL 2003. It will update if the Today page is refreshed.

Any ideas on what's going on?
